License Server Glossary
This page explains the main words used in the License Server help.
App_Data
A private website folder. It contains the encrypted database, IntelliLock
project files and installation settings. Website visitors cannot download files
from this folder.
Central License
The main license record in the database. It connects a Customer and usually a
Product. It also stores the blocked state and validity dates.
Customer
The person or company that owns a License.
Database password
The separate password that encrypts the website database. It is not the same as
the administrator login password. Keep it in a password manager.
Endpoint
A web address used by a protected application. Validation endpoints check a
license. Floating endpoints start and maintain concurrent-user sessions.
Floating License
A pool that limits how many users or application instances can use one central
License at the same time.
IIS
Internet Information Services, the Microsoft web server built into Windows
Server.
License file
The file created for the customer. The protected application reads this file.
It is different from the central License database record.
LicenseID, CustomerID, ProductID, ProjectID
Stable internal identifiers. The website normally handles them automatically.
Open the row's ▼ menu and choose Show IDs only when another tool asks
for an exact ID.
Never Expires
Makes the central License ignore its expiration date. It does not disable other
IntelliLock restrictions.
Pepper file
A secret file named hash_*.pepper. It is required to verify management
passwords. Never delete or change it. Include it in every complete backup.
Product
The software product for which a License is created. A Product normally selects
a Project.
Project / .ilproj
The IntelliLock project used to protect the application and create its license
files. The same project identity must be used by the related server endpoint.
Provider profile
Settings for one E-commerce provider account, including its webhook address and
protected verification secret.
Server-bound protection
The recommended setup mode. Saved database credentials are tied to one Windows
server and must be reconnected after a server move.
Portable protection
A setup mode for hosting systems that frequently move the website to another
machine. It is easier to move but provides less protection if the complete
App_Data folder is stolen.
System Health
A read-only check of files, database structure and record relationships. It
reports problems but does not silently change business data.
TOTP / authenticator code
A six-digit code generated by an authenticator application. It is an optional
second login factor.
Virtual endpoint
An additional service address such as /services/enterprise/.... The path is
handled by the website; no physical folder or service file is created.
Webhook
A public URL called by an E-commerce provider after a payment, refund or similar
event.
